Shrimathi Devi is an extremely talented and accomplished Hindustani vocalist from Mysore. Shrimathi Devi learned under the tutelage of Late Pandit Chandrashekhar Puranikmath, the famous vocalist of Gwalior Gharana in Dharwad. She also took guidance from Pandit Narayan Pandit, Honnavar, a disciple of Pandit Kumar Gandharva, and received advanced training from Vidushi Padma Talwalkar, Pune. Shrimathi Devi is a Graded Artist of All India Radio and has written many articles on music for various magazines. Shrimathi Devi continues to learn under the guidance of Sri Vysamurthy Katti of Bangalore, while pursuing her MA in Hindustani Music at Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysore. She has given numerous Hindustani vocal performances at prestigious venues like the Indian Culture Center in Utah, USA; Ustad Abdul Karim Khan’s Smruti program by Bharatiya Sangitha Vidyalaya; and the ‘Yuva Sangeeta Nritya Mahotsava-2009’ organized by Central South Cultural Academy, Nagpur to name a few. In recognition of her musical talent and accomplishments, she has received a scholarship by the Sangeetha Nrithya Academy, Government of Karnataka; ‘Tamankar Award’ from the Academy of Performing Arts, Hubli; the Vamanadaji Shastriya Sangeeth Puraskar (Kanakavalli, Maharashtra) award and many more.
