Kiran Kashyap is a genre-fluid violinist and musical storyteller, known for his ability to bridge ancient traditions with modern sensibilities. A prodigious multi-instrumentalist who plays 16 diverse instruments, Kiran is also a seasoned composer, arranger, and music educator, dedicated to reimagining how music is experienced, taught, and performed. Trained in both Carnatic violin under esteemed gurus like Ambi Subramaniam, Akkarai Swaminathan, and currently under Guru B. Ananthakrishnan, and Western classical violin at A.R. Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, Kiran represents a rare confluence of traditions. As a concert soloist with the KM Chamber Ensemble, his performances reflect a refined blend of classical rigour and global imagination.
Kiran’s sonic identity thrives in the intersection of Carnatic, Western Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Pop. His signature lies in weaving these genres into an immersive world fusion potpourri—a style that resonates across cultures and emotions. He is the founder of Yaazhi – The Indian Fusion Collective, a pioneering ensemble dedicated to breaking musical boundaries, and also one of the founding partners of Studio Muzicroft—a first-of-its-kind, artist-driven recording studio and rehearsal space in Chennai, built with the vision to nurture creativity through community and craft.
As a professional, Kiran has served as a music assistant to composer Sean Roldan on six Tamil feature films, and has collaborated on four more feature films with Singapore-based composer Shabir—contributing his versatility and arrangement skills to large-scale cinematic productions. With 8 years of experience as a music educator, Kiran has trained over 30 students, many of whom continue to explore fusion and classical music under his guidance. His teaching is rooted in a deep philosophy: that music is not just learned, but lived. In his words:
“Music is all about painting a story.”
“When you stop having fun, you lose the point of music.”
Kiran’s mission is to empower the next generation of musicians to see music as a language beyond words—one that transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul.
